Senior High 2: Thursday & Friday

It has been an awesome week so far with our Senior High 2 campers!

Wednesday night's Hoedown was one to remember for sure! Everyone had a great night filled with dancing, sno-cones and corn hole! It doesn't get much better than that. There were people who never thought they would be out there dancing...they did, and they had a "hog-killing time!" Yee Haw!

Thursday morning after breakfast, everyone headed to the cabins for cabin clean-up with a decoration theme of "Kungfu movies with bad lip dubbing/Mulan." It was definitely an interesting theme, and the girls of Cabin 2B won the honor of the flaming plunger for the day.

After cabin clean-ups, it was time for Bible study. Thursday's Bible study can be found in John 21:1-25, which describes Jesus appearing to his disciples for the third time since He had risen from the dead. This passage also describes when Jesus asks His disciple Peter if he truly loves Him, three different times.

Following great discussion and conversation amongst the different cabin groups on this Bible study, it was time for choice activities.

Thursday's choice activities included everything from crafts to pilates! A cabin group of guys actually agreed to all do pilates together. It was very entertaining, and we think the guys had a great time! Even though (as they loved to inform everyone throughout the day) they only had time to exercise their right side, so while their right thighs were super sore the rest of the day, their left sides were weak in comparison. :)

Once choice activities were over, it was time for lunch, followed by glorious cabin time, used to recharge for the rest of the day. When cabin time was over, rotations began.

The two teams who hadn't had a chance to go on their canoeing and hiking trip, got to go on their trip during rotations on Thursday, and they had a great time! Their trip was filled with beautiful scenery, laughs, memories, and a chance to enjoy each other's company outdoors. What more could you ask for? :)

While two of the teams were on their trip, the other two teams had recreation time in the gym, and some time at the beach!

When rotations were over, free time was opened up around the camp. Our campers got to relax, hang out, and of course play some classic games like GaGa and Nine Square in the Air. Thursday's free time was also the time for our basketball tournament. The staff vs. campers game was the most popular game of the tournament. Though it was a close, well-played game, the staff took home the victory this year!

After free time, it was time for supper--which never disappoints.

When everyone was happily full and ready to go, it was time for the camp evening activity--"Bloody Frisbee Death"....now nicknamed "The Big Fris!" Due to the excessive amounts of mud and puddles in the field, everyone was sliding around the entire field...and it was awesome! Everyone had a great time, and it was decided that the mud enhances the fun of the game.

After the evening activity and another break for Snack Shack, it was time to head to the chapel for worship and a message given by Ross O'Dell. Ross' message was one that was very powerful. Everyone left deep in thought, and we were all given a chance to process through what we had heard and learned together as cabin groups. It was a time of great discussion and reflection.

Following an awesome session of worship and a powerful message, everyone headed out for the camp night activity: Suburban Commando. Suburban Commando is a famous game here at Bear Lake, and always provides much entertainment the next day, especially during meals. Everyone is out looking for the hidden truck, but when they are stopped by staff members, they must "bribe" the staff members to allow them to continue the search. It's quite enjoyable, and this time a fog machine was involved!

After a great game and 5-6 people making it to the truck, it was time to wind down and head to bed. It was a thrilling Thursday indeed, so rest was a must to have even more fun on Friday.

After flag pole and breakfast this morning, it was time for yet another cabin clean-up. Today's theme was "Everything is Awesome!" which was open for creative interpretation. The girls of Cabin 2B won today's honor of the flaming plunger (again!), and they were obviously quite proud of such an accomplishment!

Following cabin clean-up, cabin groups headed out for today's Bible study. Today's Bible study can be found in Acts 4:1-22. This passage in the Bible describes Peter and John standing before the council of priests, proclaiming that Jesus is the Christ the Son of the Living God, and that they were not going to back down from their beliefs no matter what. This passage describes a huge and powerful faith, which gave the cabin groups a lot to talk about!

After Bible study, it was time for choice activities! Today's choice activities included flag football, soccer, crafts, dodgeball and more.

When choice activities came to a close, it was time for the famous Friday lunch...the best homemade pizza anyone has ever tasted!

When our bellies were satisfied and happy, it was time to relax during some cabin time. Once everyone had a chance to recharge for the rest of the day, it was time for rotations to begin.

Today was the day for the explanation of Mêleé (the Friday night game), swim time, and the famous giant slip 'n slide. These rotations made our Friday even better (especially the slip 'n slide).

When free time was over, it was time for a great supper.

Later tonight, we have what every camper waits for and prepares for throughout the whole week...Mêleé. The game that tests your Memory Verse skills.

After Mêleé, everyone will head to the gym for chapel, and will hear another great message from Ross O'dell. The campers will then be given another chance to reflect together and talk about the message that Ross will be giving.

We have had an awesome week of camp, and it was been so cool to watch how the Lord is working in these camper's hearts. We can't wait for the rest of our night, and our time we have to spend together in worship tomorrow morning before the campers head home.

It has been a week packed full of fun, and it has definitely flown by. Though we are sad to see the campers go, we are all so excited to see how they will continue following Christ in their regular day-to-day routines. God is good!
