Junior High 2: Monday

Our next group of Junior High campers have arrived, and we could not be more excited!!

We had an interesting start to our day, as a storm greeted everyone to camp during registration, but we pushed on and got everyone ready to go for another great week of camp!

After everyone got settled in and our families said their farewells, we headed down to the gym to get things started.

After our lovely Bear Lake staff was introduced to everyone, they then began the famous "Rules Skits" to put an entertaining and humorous spin on a list of things to remember to keep camp safe and fun.

When all of the rules had been acted out, we were split into four teams. This week we have team names ranging from the "Pancake Platipi" to the "Animal Crackers." :) Our teams made their team flags and got to know each other by playing name games, including the "sheet game."

Once everyone had an idea of who was on their team, it was time for lunch!
Due to the rain, we had our "Picnic" lunch in the dining hall. Lunch was still amazing, and rain can never ruin the fun. We had a great time of fellowship with our cabin mates around the table.

When everyone had full and happy bellies, it was time for cabin time. Today this time was used to go over some cabin rules with counselors and spend more time with our cabin mates. Following cabin time, the girls went to Bible study and then to re-learn GaGa, while the boys went to take their swim tests.

Today's Bible study can be found in Luke 5:1-11. This passage describes Jesus speaking to crowds by the Sea of Galilee, and then calling some of His first disciples to follow Him. Our discussion today challenged us to think of what we would have done if we were on the shore of Galilee listening to Jesus speak, and if we would have left everything to follow Him. This also eased everyone into this summer's theme at camp which is "Follow."

We will be learning more about what it truly means to follow Christ in our own lives, and what it could look like for each of us. The campers will be challenged to evaluate where they are at in their walk with Christ, and also how they could improve their walk.

Once the first rotation was finished, it was time for the first Snack Shack of the week!
After getting refreshed and recharged at Snack Shack, it was time for the boys and girls to swap rotations.

When second rotations were over, free time was opened up for our campers to hang out, relax, and play games around camp. Following free time, everyone headed into the dining hall to settle in around the tables for a delicious supper cooked by our wonderful cooks! (The food at Bear Lake NEVER disappoints!!)

When everyone had refilled their bellies, it was time for the camp evening activity...."The Big Fris!!" This game is especially fun when the field is basically a mud pit...so the kids were in for an awesome game right off the bat. They played hard, and had a lot of fun!

After the evening activity, everyone headed back to clean up and get refreshed at the Snack Shack. When everyone was ready to go again, we made our way to the chapel for a great time of worship. Darren Guiff also gave an excellent message tonight!

Following chapel, it was time for our social campfire. Everyone was challenged to meet and spend time with new people, while spending time around the fire eating snacks. It was a perfect ending to a marvelous Monday!

We are so excited for this new week, and to see what God is going to do in the hearts of our campers! We also can't wait to get to know each camper better, and to learn and grow alongside them. It's going to be a wonderful week!
