Junior High 2: Tuesday

We are off to an awesome start this week!

Cabins 1 and 3 were able to get up early to start their day off with polar bearing this morning! The rest of us got up at the usual time and headed to the basketball court to start off the day with stretches and a short fun run to get our blood pumping. After getting warmed up, we all headed into the dining hall for a delicious breakfast prepared by our lovely cooks!

Following breakfast, everyone went back to the cabins to clean up any messes, and make our beds, and decorate in today's theme..."Noah's Ark!" Which seems fitting, because of all of the rain we have been blessed with this summer :) The boys of cabin 6 won cabin clean up today, so they won the honor of the plunger trophy and entering into lunch first! The winning boys were very creative in creating an ark, and used paper to hang storm clouds and even had flashing lights to portray lightning. However, more importantly: the cabin was spotless and every bed was carefully made!

After putting hard work and effort into cabin clean-up, it was time for Bible study. Today's Bible study can be found in Matthew 14:13-33. This passage discusses Jesus feeding the 5,000 and also describes Jesus walking on water. The cabins then discussed what these miracles meant to them and how they can apply these lessons to their own lives.

Following some great Bible studies and conversations, choice activities began. Today's choice activities included GaGa, Archery/Sling shots, Nine Square, Crafts, Disc Golf, Flag Football, Swimming, Canoeing/Kayaking, and a special choice activity for this week: "Nate's Musical Madness" with Nate Barrow. This choice activity is only here for this week, as Nate Barrow is here leading worship this week.

"Nate's Musical Madness" was a time used to teach campers how to play different instruments and sing different songs. Some kids even learned how to play bass guitar, while others got vocal tips. It was a very popular choice activity today and went so well that some campers came back during free time to practice even more!

When everyone went through both of the choice activities they signed up for, it was time for lunch, followed by some cabin time (rest time).

After everyone was rested up and ready to get going again, we began rotations with our teams. One team went to crafts to paint "Follow" on logs so they could take home a physical reminder to follow Jesus daily, and then went to play a variation of "Ultimate Basketball" which was kind of like Ultimate Frisbee. One team played games in the gym, while the other teams went swimming. During the second rotation, some of
the teams swapped, and they will continue swapping throughout the week so everyone gets a chance to participate in the activities.

When rotations came to a close, free time was opened up around camp. During this time, campers can hang out and play games like GaGa, Carpet Ball and Nine Square.

Following free time, it was time for another delicious supper. Which can only mean one thing on a Tuesday....Taco Tuesday!!

When everyone's bellies were filled and energized with Taco goodness, it was time to begin the evening activity, which was the classic game of Goldrush! When we finished a few great rounds of Goldrush, we took a break for snack shack and then headed to the chapel for worship and another wonderful message given by Darren Guiff!

After chapel tonight, we will head out to play the night game. Tonight's game will be "Clue!" It has been a terrific Tuesday, and we are excited to see how the rest of the week will play out. :)
