Junior High 2: Wednesday

We are just about half way done with this week, but we still have so much more to do and learn!! We definitely don't slow down when the week speeds up! :)

This morning we started out our day at the flagpole for morning stretches to warm up for a new day. The sun and blue skies greeted us as soon as we were up this morning, which was awesome to wake up to!

After we got our blood pumping we headed into the dining hall for a delicious and hearty breakfast, to gain energy for a day of fun and games!

Following breakfast, it was time for cabin clean-up. Todays theme for cabin clean-up was: Mario Kart!

It was so fun to see how the campers creatively integrated the theme into their cabin cleaning.

Today the boys of Cabin 6 won yet again! Their cleaning skills are very impressive and they have a lot of creativity. The boys received the flaming plunger again, and were able to enter into lunch first for the second day in a row. They have definitely set the bar high!

After cleaning our cabins up and decorating them, it was time for another Bible study with our cabins. Today's Bible study can be found in Matthew 26:57-75. This passage describes what occurs after Jesus is arrested. It explains how Jesus is questioned by the high council and is then declared guilty of blaphsemy. This passage also describes when Peter denies Jesus three times before the rooster crows.

This passage in the Bible challenges us to evaluate what we would do in Peter's position and it also had us evaluate what ways we deny Jesus in our personal everyday lives. Along with those challenges of evaluation, this passage challenges us to think about what Jesus endured. In turn, cabin discussions were structured around the idea of following Jesus no matter what is going on around us or to us.

After great discussions with our cabin groups, choice activities began. Today's choice activities included disc golf, crafts, volleyball, swimming, archery/slingshots, basketball, game room, GaGa, and more!

When everyone completed both of their choice activities, it was time to gather together for a wonderful lunch, followed by cabin time. After everyone was reenergized and ready to go, it was time to start rotations. Today's rotations were the same as yesterday's, but the teams rotated so they could enjoy something new. More people got to paint their "Follow" logs, some people got to have recreation time in the gym, and everyone got to have swim time.

When rotations came to a close, free time was opened up around the camp. This was also a time to continue tournaments. Campers are able to sign up for various tournaments that continue during free time. There are carpet ball, volleyball, and basketball tournaments. After enjoying some free time together, it was supper time, which was obviously enjoyed by everyone. At camp you play hard, so you come to every meal with a big appetite. Thankfully, Bear Lake is blessed with some awesome cooks, so every appetite is satisfied. :)

After supper, we began a unique game that has never been done before at Bear Lake Camp. We put a spin on capture the flag, and called it "Raid the Castle." In this game, rather than stealing flags (because we've "been there done that," right?) there were items such as trash cans, teddy bears, and even kayaks, in each team's base, and each item was worth a certain amount of points. Some items required more than one person to carry (as you can imagine). Though it was pretty much mass chaos, it was so much fun, and super entertaining to watch!

The campers had an awesome time, and we will have to remember this new game next summer to try it again.

When this new game came to a close, it was time again to come together to worship in the chapel. Following an amazing worship session, we were again joined by Darren Guiff, who spoke another great message!

Following a great time in chapel, we will play our night game, which will be a classic game of Counselor Hunt. We will see which cabin groups find which counselors, and when we all come together at the end, the amount of points each counselor is worth will be revealed.

We have had a wonderful Wednesday, and we can't wait to see what else God has in store for us the rest of this week. :)
